Q1. Do Solar Lanterns have to be under direct sun light? My front porch receives the late afternoon sun. Will they still lit in cloudy or rainy season?
A: The lanterns are entirely powered by the sun. Each night, the lanterns will be lit until they run out of power, and then spend all day charging back up. To get a full charge, they need about 6-8 hours of direct sunlight. Less sun or indirect sun will mean less power to light the lantern in the evenings, but they'll still light up for a time.
Q2. How do we charge the battery?
A: These lanterns are solar-powered so you just leave the lanterns (switch should be turned ON) in the sun for 6-8 hours and then it'll be fine.
Q3. Are the lanterns waterproof? Can you keep them outside without cover?
A: The lanterns are weather-resistant and designed to be outside all year. Just make sure they are placed somewhere with good drainage- they shouldn't sit in a puddle and obviously you should take them in during extreme weather like hurricanes
Q4. Is the candle removable? (can you replace the candle with a different one)
A: Yes, it is removable, and can be replaced with a new one.
Q5. Would these need to be moved out of direct sunlight during the very hot summer? Could they potentially get too hot causing them to melt a little or become warped?
A: Good question! The Lanterns are made of real metal and durable resin and are designed to be out in the direct sun.
